  • The resurrection stands uniquely powerful against the universal and unavoidable reality of death. Across cultures and centuries, humanity imagines, debates, and hopes for “resurrection,” often reducing it to an abstract idea. Yet Christianity points to a moment in history when resurrection was not a theory but an action. Jesus Christ alone declared Himself the Resurrection and demonstrated it. If His rising is historical, it cannot be casually dismissed.

Still, people ask: Where is the proof? The empty tomb remains the first and most enduring witness. Unlike the grand shrines built for revered leaders and prophets, Jesus has no mausoleum because His grave is empty. Nevertheless, the human mind continues to search. Do we really need proof for what stands so plainly? Believers recognize the truth instinctively, while unbelievers wrestle with it. Into this tension, Scripture speaks through the angels at the tomb: “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen.” (Luke 24:5–6). The deeper one believes Jesus is alive, the more one’s life reflects that reality. Ultimately, the transformed lives of believers are the most compelling evidence that Christ is risen and remains Emmanuel, “God with us.”

Throughout history, many have attempted to disprove the resurrection philosophically and historically. Yet these very attempts become indirect testimony: the sheer number of counterarguments suggests people are grappling with something real, not imaginary. A counterfeit only exists because there is an original. Christianity, the world’s largest faith, continues to grow despite persecution, and it has produced the highest number of martyrs through the centuries. People do not willingly die for what they know to be false. They die convinced of a resurrection that gives hope, not the destructive martyrdoms of ideologies that take life. Jesus alone offered His life freely - and took it up again in victory, conquering death for humanity. In the end, all arguments return to Jesus's own words: “I am the Resurrection and the Life.” (John 11:25). To believe in the Resurrection is to lose nothing except our selfish impulse to live on our own, and instead to welcome the resurrected life of Jesus within us—empowering us to live like Him, walk in His victory, and rise into the fullness of the life He promised.
