Many people in Germany / Europe call or would call themselves Christians if asked, but only a small percentage are practising Christians. For the substantial number of people who would call themselves Christians but do not practise any faith, a belief that science shows that God does not exist, or that science can show how everything, including the human race, came to exist (therefore making God unnecessary) seems to prevail. A sense of something spiritual or a cultural attachment to Christianity means that, nevertheless, they are still content and often would like to be called Christians.
In this light, during this talk and discussion, we will take a look at some pointers the Bible gives us regarding what we can learn from the natural world around us (science) and the existence of God. However, as the Bible will often be seen as assuming the existence of God by definition and also as not being a reliable source of evidence, we will also take a look at some pointers that science gives us regarding what we can learn about the existence (or not) of God.
